Avoiding scams

When working to avoid foreclosure, beware of people or companies who:

  • Call themselves "foreclosure services"
  • Contact you because they learned your home is listed for foreclosure
  • Ask for a fee before providing any service to you
  • Require you to make a mortgage payment directly to them
  • Ask you to transfer your property deed or title to them

If you're in doubt, talk with a trusted professional to help you decide if an offer is legitimate.
