Temporary Home Equity Changes

Effective March 3, 2021, Citi will temporarily stop accepting Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC) and Fixed Rate Home Equity Loan (FRHEL) applications. The last day to submit an application will be March 2, 2021. This temporary pause is the result of current market conditions and will help us optimize our mortgage processes to better meet the needs of our customers. While the duration of the suspension is still to be determined, we are committed to offering these products in the future.

Q: Why is Citi no longer accepting applications for Home Equity Lines of Credit (HELOC) or Fixed Rate Home Equity Loans (FRHEL)? A: Due to current market conditions, we will not accept HELOC or FRHEL applications beginning March 3, 2021. If you want to lower your monthly payment or access your home's equity, our mortgage refinancing options may be helpful to you.

Q: What if my application is already in process? A: We will process all applications, including credit line increases, received before March 3, 2021, this includes eligibility review, processing and funding if the loan is approved and conditions fulfilled.

Q: What if I was referred to a Banker or Home Loan Officer but haven't completed an application, can I still apply on or after March 3? A: We are not able to accept any HELOC or FRHEL applications, including credit line increases, on or after March 3. We will work with you to see if other options may be available that could meet your needs including a cash-out refinance.

Q: I need to refinance my existing HELOC or FRHEL, can I still apply? A: We are not able to accept any HELOC or FRHEL applications on or after March 3. We will work with you to see if other options may be available that could meet your needs including a cash-out refinance.

Q: When will Citi start taking HELOC and FRHEL applications again? A: We will begin accepting new HELOC applications after market conditions change.
